Angelina Jolie has found herself amid yet another controversy about her Bosnian war film, even as the uproar about the earlier one about the film’s plot is just dying down. This time the actor turned debutante director was caught up in a rent swindle scandal in Hungary.
A security guard allegedly duped Jolie of $2,750 for allowing her to shoot scenes of her Bosnian film in a warehouse building. The security guard at the premise posed as the owner of the building and palmed off the money. It was much later that the star discovered about the premise she hired being illegal.
One of the owners reportedly told newspapers later that his partner called him to ask if he knew about their building being the venue of a shoot that a involved a big star, Angelina Jolie. “(The guard) thought we wouldn’t find out about it, because we hardly ever go to the building,” the owner reiterated.
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie has received permission from the Bosnian culture ministry to resume the shoot. The ministry officials revoked the permission earlier because the documentation was incomplete.
Jolie’s directorial debut being shot in Bosnia, is a love story about the rape of a Muslim girl who eventually falls in love with her rapist, a Serb. However, there are rumors floating around about the film’s content and Jolie’s manager who is also a co-producer of the film, has told has the Los Angeles Times that incorrect stories about the film’s story are being circulated. The movie is set against the backdrop of the 1992 Bosnian war, which was the bloodiest in Europe since World War II.
