Shah Rukh Khan removes Lux cozy insignia from Knight Riders pants!Heard this?? Shah Rukh Khan, the King Khan of bollywood who also own Kolkata Knight Riders team of Indian Premier League (IPL), seems to have learnt his lessons from Shiv Sena-MNIK controversy and ended his endorsement contract with the hosiery major Lux Cozy after opposition in Kolkata.

Earlier, the logo of Lux Cozi was expected to be everywhere on Kolkata Knight Riders’ jerseys, pants, hoardings etc but after the controversy erupted, King Khan decided to play safe and terminated the contract with the brand. In fact, people in Kolkata felt that by entering into a contract with Ashok Todi and Pradip Todi(the owners of Lux Cozy)Shah Rukh Khan was being insensitive to their feelings despite owning the city franchisee in Indian Premier League.

Ashok Todi had been accused of abetting the suicide of his son-in-law Rizwanur and was also in jail before coming out on bail. This endorsement deal with Shah Rukh Khan’s team might have provided respectability to Todis, and the citizens of Kolkata were dead against it.

Sources say that Shah Rukh Khan was frightened with growing opposition to his tie up with Lux Cozy after the groups of artistes, actors, singers also joined the rank of protesters. Had the opposition not been nipped in the bud, it would have been almost impossible for him to continue with his IPL team on Kolkata grounds during the matches with other teams.

Another factor which is said to have also influenced Shah Rukh Khan’s decision in removing the endorsement deal was the involvement of some religious groups in the protest. As Rizwanur was a Muslim while the girl was a Hindu (Ashok Todi’s daughter), the controversy had the potential of taking altogether a new color. Shah Rukh did not want anything of the sort and preffered to keep away from such controversies.

In the meantime, Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ has earned around Rs 150 crores in its first week from the worldwide box office. The figure is being considered spectacular, especially in view of it taking a downward turn on weekdays to as low as forty percent of the capacity. Even the distributor Fox Star Studios has reportedly generated Rs 35 crore so far and still has plans to release the film in non-traditional areas like Oman, Qatar, Egypt and other countries of the world.
